Hey, I’m Vanessa!
I’m the creative mind behind Studio Birchwood, working as a graphic designer, illustrator, and surface pattern designer based in the Netherlands.

A Creative Journey
My design career started at fashion academy, where I first honed my skills as a kids’ clothing designer for a well-known retailer. From there, I branched out into freelancing, working across various industries. I’ve had the opportunity to design men’s clothing, Christmas decorations, home products like tablecloths, plates, and accessories, as well as kids’ DIY products, toys, and cosmetics packaging.

A Versatile Skill Set
Designing for so many different clients and products has allowed me to develop a wide-ranging set of skills, from understanding trends to meeting client needs. I love collaborating with brands to create designs that tell a story, connect emotionally, and bring joy into people’s lives.

Inspired by Youth
In addition to my design work, I’m also an art teacher at a high school. Working with teens may be challenging at times, but they are a constant source of inspiration for my designs. Their energy,creativity, and unique perspectives often influence my work, and I love bringing their sense of fun and spontaneity into my patterns.
